Chevrolet has revealed the sticker price for the upcoming Volt extended-range electric vehicle. The Volt will cost $41,000, but if a buyer is eligible for a full federal tax credit of $7500, the effective price would be $33,500. Other state and regional tax subsidies could push the effective price even lower for some buyers. This morning Ford unveiled the all-new Explorer to employees and dealers at the company’s world headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan. Nissan has announced modest price increases for the 2011 Versa. The two body styles remain: Sedans are available with a 1.6- or 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine, while hatchbacks offer only the larger unit. The Nissan LEAF is the world’s first truly mass-market, affordable electric car and there are plenty of folks who’ve plunked down the $99 reservation fee with plans to be one of the first to own one when they start going on sale at the end of this year. Cadillac has announced pricing information for the CTS coupe and CTS- V coupe , which go on sale in August as 2011 models. Somewhat surprisingly, the base two-door comes in more than three grand less than the least-expensive CTS sedan with the same powertrain. Porsche has released pricing information for the 2011 Cayenne , which was heavily redesigned for the new model year. The SUV is now offered in four flavors: Cayenne, Cayenne S, Cayenne S Hybrid, and Cayenne Turbo. Although leaked information had given us a rough idea of pricing for the new Grand Cherokee, Jeep has now given us the official word on sticker prices and equipment. For 2011, all Grand Cherokees come standard with Chrysler’s new 3.6-liter V-6 ; a 5.7-liter V-8 is optional on all but the base model but pricing for the big engine isn’t yet available. Autocar UK is reporting that an “industry source” claims the Nissan LEAF will be sold for between £24,000 and £25,000 ($36-37K US) when it goes on sale in Britain next year. That price will include the battery pack. It had been rumored that Nissan would set up a battery lease program in Europe which would significantly offset the up front cost of buying into the technology and it remains to be seen if the battery lease will still...
