"Because this sure doesn't feel like we're going that fast." The silence that follows says more about the 2010 Porsche Panamera than anything else we experience in our three-day drive. From the driver seat, with my mental calculator in high gear, I glance in the rearview mirror and witness the unlikely. That colleague is asleep. Here. In a Porsche. On the autobahn. It had taken a few long days on airplanes to arrive in Bavaria and none of us had slept well. But the fact that this guy managed to do it now means that the new Panamera is, as Porsche claims, a true four-door GT. Just as I'm wrapping my mind around these facts, my calculator finishes the math. The speed? 158.1 mph. With a sleeping passenger. Sheesh.

  A tribute to the 29 men who died November 10, 1975, aboard the Edmund Fitzgerald in Lake Superior. ---- Announcer (0:04): An air and sea search is continuing for possible survivors of the Edmund Fitzgerald, a 729 foot ore carrier, which apparently broke apart and sunk last night on Lake Superior. The ship and its 29-man crew vanished in a storm with 80 mile-an-hour winds and wave heights up to 25 feet.   Carquestions in a follow up investigation of the June 4th NHTSA Leaks Privacy video discovers Toyota's number 1 critic Sean Kane offering for sale the same information NHTSA recalled over a month ago. The information his company VSIRC claims to have contains private information that is restricted by law. Carquestions asks for the immediate recall of this information from Mr. Kane's company and any of the lawyers and others he may have re-sold the information to. The bill for this clean up is going to cost big money - all yours of course. Bit of a sticky situation wouldn't you say?

  Toyota Motor Corp. (NYSE:TM) officials said Thursday that the automaker is considering "some kind of measure" to possibly recall 270000 Toyota- and Lexus-brand cars and trucks worldwide due to engine stalling issues. Toyota has not alerted the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration of the possible recall and no injuries or accidents have been reported as a result of the engine problems. "It's not as if there has been an accident caused by the possible defect," Kazaka Securities' Yoshihiko Tabei told Reuters. "Investors are not worried as long as carmakers act quickly to address quality problems." Toyota has recalled over 10 million vehicles worldwide since September 2009, mostly for acceleration issues; around 7.3 million of those vehicle recalls have been made in the US. Shares of the automaker are trading down 0.25% Thursday afternoon at $68.40.
